Arauco plans to start up new BEK pulp line in late October

Arauco’s MAPA project is close to completion. The new pulp line will have a capacity of 1.56 million tpy of bleached eucalyptus (BEK) pulp, EUWID reports.

The newly established bleached eucalyptus (BEK) pulp line of Chilean Arauco is expected to start up by the end of October. Empresas Copec, Arauco’s parent company, announced on 19 August that the first bale was expected to be produced by then. The MAPA project is located in Southern Chile.

The start-up of the project has been delayed several times due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a truck driver strike earlier this year.
