Södra Cell buys PulpEye analyzers for its pulp mills

Södra Cell has signed an order for four PulpEye analyzers for quality inspection online at the pulp mills in Mönsterås, Mörrum, and Värö in Sweden. It is the second-largest order ever signed by PulpEye.
Södra Cell, with its three pulp mills in it, is a world-leading producer of market pulp. The largest part of the production consists of bleached paper pulp, both long and short fiber pulps. Textile pulp is also produced at the pulp mill in Mörrum. Södra Cell is also a significant producer and supplier of biofuels, green electricity, district heating, and raw materials for biofuels.
Both the Mönsterås and Värö mills will receive a PulpEye with samplers for measuring fiber dimensions as well as coarseness and kinks. In Mörrum, two PulpEye units will be installed for measuring fiber dimensions as well as coarseness and kinks, plus one module measuring fiber wall thickness based on FPInnovation’s patent.
“We have a unique system for online classification of our pulps and here the analysis data from the PulpEye modules will provide important input,” says Annica Larsson Ahlstedt, Head of Product Quality, Södra Cell. “As a large producer of high-quality paper pulps and dissolving pulp, it is important to use modern analytical technology to be able to manufacture pulp products of consistent and high quality for our customers. After careful evaluations, our choice fell on PulpEye as provider of the online analysis modules.”
